Mr. Robert Wayne Frierson, age 62, a resident of Spring Hill, went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Harvey Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Peace at Maury Memorial Gardens, located next to Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the funeral home. The body will lie in state on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 2:00 - 8:00 PM. The repass will be held at Glass Street Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A native of Mt. Pleasant, Wayne was born on December 29, 1952 and was the son of Jessie Mae Jones Frierson and the late Robert Lee Frierson. He was baptized at an early age at the Broadway Street Church of Christ and was a faithful member at Glass Street Church of Christ until his death. He attended Clarke High School through 1969 until they closed and was a 1970 graduate of Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant. He married Vanessa Caldwell on May 12, 1984, and they spent 31 wonderful years together. Wayne earned his Bachelor's Degree at Middle Tennessee State University in 1996. He was employed with Innophos Inc. on January 30, 1973 as a shift mechanic and worked there for 42 years. Wayne enjoyed coaching numerous different baseball and basketball teams ranging from elementary kids to AAU. He was a family oriented man who loved people. He was the "General" of the family, taking care of everything and everybody. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son: Brandon (Alison) Frierson of Spring Hill; daughters: Felecia Frierson of Columbia, Chanta Frierson of Columbia from a previous union with Myra Hampton Buchanan; brothers: Thomas Ray (April) Frierson of Columbia, Elvis Lee (Teresa) Frierson of Columbia, Rickey (Donna) Frierson of Columbia, Chris (Marilyn) Frierson of Mt. Pleasant, Bruce (Murenda) Frierson of Columbia, Ronald (Dena) Frierson of Roswell, GA, Timothy Frierson of Mt. Pleasant; sister: Brenda Gail Frierson of Columbia; grandchildren: Jaylen Frierson, Demontae Fleming, Madelyn Conner, Avery Frierson; uncles: Tommy Jones, Jr., Napoleon Frierson, James Ed Frierson, Elmer T. LeMay, Larry LeMay; aunts: Sadie Reynolds, Emma Frierson, Lois Frierson, Peggy Ransom, Patsy Shaw, Grace Stephenson, Joyce Webster; and sisters-in-law: Claudette Caldwell, Elaine Booker; and special friends: Kelley Scharrer, Archie & Anh Hendricks, Ronnie Clark, Debra Clark, Sheila Carpenter, Larry Sands, Don Sands, and the Sands family. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his brother: Keith Frierson; uncles: Harry, Kenneth "Papa Bear," and William Frierson; aunt: Lillie Pearl Taylor; brothers-in-law: Nelson R. Miller, Jr.; mother-in-law: Claudia Secrest; father-in-law: Alvin Caldwell; step-father-in-law: Allen James Secrest. Pallbearers will be his brothers: Thomas, Elvis, Rickey, Chris, Bruce, Ronald, and Timothy Frierson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Ronnie Clark, Milton Knowles, Michael Richardson, Ronald Watkins, Steve Webster, Charlie Frierson, Charlie "Sporty Yootie" Hampton, Kurtis Scharrer, Jeff Cathey, other members of his Dixie Youth Baseball and youth basketball teams, and Innophos Inc. work team. His nieces will serve as flowers girls. Honorary flower girls will be: his AAU basketball team, Kelley Scharrer, Alyssa LeMay, Karen Davidson "Nay Nay," and Patricia "Pat" Cato. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Maury Regional Medical Center's ICU Staff, Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Pulmonary Staff, Dr. Minerva Covarrubias and office staff, and Dr. Angela Joynes and office staff.
