Christine Jones

Christine Jones, age 85, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Walter Shell officiating. Burial will follow in Dunn Cemetery in Leoma. The family will also receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born in Lawrence County on February 25, 1930, Christine was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Lena Smith Graves. She worked as a homemaker the majority of her life and attended New Grace Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing and growing gardens as well as cleaning, shopping, and eating out. She loved going to church and often enjoyed attending gospel singings. She was a wonderful cook who loved spending time and taking care of her grandchildren. She is survived by her son: Danny (Janice) Jones of Columbia; brother: Charles Graves of Lawrenceburg; sister: Sybil New of Lawrenceburg; grandchildren: Amy Jones (Kelly Clayborne) of Columbia, Steven (Liz) Jones of Chapel Hill; great-grandchildren: Penny (Jason) Hill, Samantha McCandless, Brooklyn Watkins, Paige Clayborne, Brianna Jones, Jade Spaulding, Makenna Spaulding, Brayden Jones, Connor Jones, and Tucker Jones; one great-great-grandchild: Aubree Hill; and special friends: Jerry Angus and Chris Potts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Pruitt Jones; and several brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Kelly Clayborne, Austin Blade, Chris Potts, Brayden Jones, Ricky Cotton, and Luke Begley. The members of New Grace Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
