Judith Johnson

June 11, 1939 - May 7, 2015

Judith "Judy" Johnson, age 75, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015 as a result of a long battle with brain cancer. Her sister and children were by her side when she drifted off to be with the Lord. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Thompsons Station United Methodist Church, Thompsons Station Road West, Thompsons Station, TN. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. She was born to Vernon and Veda Morrick of Madison, Wisconsin on June 11, 1939. She graduated from Madison Central High School in 1957 and later graduated from the University of South Florida with a Nursing Degree in 1992. She married her one and only love, Robert "Bob" Johnson on August 11, 1962 in Sault St. Marie, Michigan and later moved to Florida. As a result of their union, Vicki, Thomas, and Debra were born. Judy spent her entire life serving others. She retired as a pediatric nurse and continued taking care of little ones. After caring for her husband, Bob, until his death, she decided to move to Tennessee with her daughter Debra. There, she spent most of her days caring for their horses and alpacas. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her church friends. Each year, she loved traveling to Wisconsin with her siblings to visit relatives and embark on their sentimental journey. Judy also loved socializing and had a wonderful smile that could light up any room. She leaves her beloved daughter, Dr. Vicki (Tim) Alberts of Panama City, FL; her son, Thomas Johnson of Tampa, FL; and her daughter, Debra Deckert of Columbia, TN. She also leaves her brothers: Ronald "Ron" (Ann) Morrick of Tampa, FL, Thomas "Tom" (Lynda) Morrick of Grand Island, NE; sister, Patricia "Pat" (Ken) Reimer of Plainfield, IL. She is also survived by her "grandchildren:" Kristin and Caden McNamar of Plant City, FL, Matthew and Marissa Moore of Florida, and Bethany and Tabitha Bryzek of Wisconsin. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Veda Morrick, and her husband, Bob Johnson.
