He was the husband of Neda Farris Dickey, to whom he was married for 53 blessed years. Mrs. Neda said that he had nothing when they married, but he had given her the world. Gene worked as a salesman for the Pepsi Cola Company for 35 years. Paw-paw, as he was referred to by his family, loved to read, enjoyed working in his yard, liked watching NASCAR and anything related to automotive, no matter the make, model or year. After his retirement, Paw-paw enjoyed spending time with his loving family. He had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. He was a member of the Cedar Hill Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Steve Dickey of Hampshire and Donna Roberts of Columbia; grandchildren: Autumn (Jimmy) Carter, Brandon Roberts, and Amber Roberts; a great grandchild on the way. In addition to his parent, he was preceded in death by a brother: Ray Dickey. Pallbearers will be J.W. Dickey, Jerry Dickey, Brandon Roberts, Matthew Young, Bob Young and Mark Richards. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Cedar Hill Church of Christ, Dr. Gibran Naddy and the staff of Core Physicians. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Hospice and especially his nurse, Rebecca Hughes.
