Mr. Luther Parham, age 86, a resident of Williamsport Pike in Columbia, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 27th at 12 noon in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Stephen Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery in the Bethel Community. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, April 26th from 4-8pm at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Luther was born in Maury County on May 12, 1928 and was the son of the late Lawrence and Elsie Fox Parham. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia. He worked at Occidental Chemical Corporation over 40 years. He also did all the maintenance for Cook Properties for 34 years. Luke was an avid gardener. He enjoyed raising a garden and giving vegetables away to everyone. He had a garden all the way up to 2014 and watched wrestling on a regular basis. Some of his favorite hobbies were cutting grass, farming, and looking at old family pictures. He loved the outdoors and animals of all types, especially his dog Molly. Most of all, Luke was a family man. His main priority was spending time with his sons, Mark and Terry, striving to make sure that they understood the value of a hard days work. He also treasured all the special time he had with his girls, Amy and Debbie. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Luke is survived by his son: Terry F. (Pam) Parham of Columbia; daughter: Amy Kelley of Columbia; brother: L.D. (Lucille) Parham of Columbia; son-in-law: Stanley D. Smith of Columbia; grandchildren: John (Stephanie) Kelley of Smyrna, Amy Smith of Chapel Hill, Stan Smith of Columbia, Kayla Parham of Columbia, Jessica Parham of Mt. Pleasant, and Misty (Josh) Cozart of Lewisburg; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Galbraith; daughter: Debbie Smith; son: Mark Parham; brother: Wilburn Parham; sister: Helen Potts; and son-in-law: Travis Kelley. Pallbearers will be John Kelley, Stan Smith, Danny Reid, Josh Cozart, Justin Runions, and Dustin Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Patrick, Terry Cook, Dr. Ben Gardner, Larry Ballard, Catherine Bolton, Jesse Parham, Jamie Parham, and all the former employees of Occidental Chemical Company.
