Mr. Claudie "Buddy" Stewart, age 76, husband of Barbara Page Stewart, and a resident of Shelby Court in Columbia, passed away Saturday evening, April 11, 2015 at Life Care Center of Columbia. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Angy Trimmer officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM and again one hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A native of Maury County, Buddy was born on October 11, 1938 and was the son of Thomas McFarland and the late Minnie Stewart McFarland. He was a 1960 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church. Buddy married the love of his life, Barbara, on June 30, 1979, and they have spent 35 wonderful years together. He worked at CPS (Plus Mark) in Franklin for 30 years until he retired. Buddy was an avid sports fan who coached Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, and Senior League Basketball. He enjoyed flea marketing and craft shows as well as gardening, CB radios, and watching old television shows. Buddy had a loving heart often donating to people in need. He also loved to travel and go on vacation. Above all, Buddy loved his family and will be deeply missed by all of them. In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his daughter: Jane (Bobby) Childress of Columbia; sister: Sandra (Walter) Farmer of Nashville; uncle: Jim Manier of Columbia; and his beloved cats: Millie and Mary Jo. Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister: Sheila McFarland and several aunts and uncles. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Rinehart, Dr. Jensen, Dr. Cobb, Dr. McClure, and Dr. Richardson. The family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Pet Pals of Maury County or the Family Center in Columbia.
