Mr. Elmer Stricklin, age 65, husband of Deborah Stricklin, and a resident of Waynesboro, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Perry County Hospital in Linden. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on November 6, 1949 in Waynesboro, Elmer was the son of Hubert and Minnie Louise Overton Stricklin. He was a member of House of Prayer Baptist Church and worked as a truck driver. He loved hunting, fishing, and boat riding on the river. Elmer also enjoyed playing softball and umpiring softball. His family described him as being a big music player, often playing his guitar and singing for his church. Elmer loved his family and will be deeply missed. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Danny (Gina) Stricklin of Spring Hill, Brandon Stricklin of Columbia; sister: Tommie (Stormy) Jarrel of Culleoka; grandchildren: Autumn Stricklin, Kyndell Stricklin, and Conner Stricklin; several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children: Patricia Stricklin Craig. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Stricklin; brother, Hubert Stricklin; and sisters: Rita Majors, Penny Fisher, and Rachel Nichols. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Elmer Stricklin Memorial Fund, c/o Heritage Funeral Home: 609 Bear Creek Pike, Columbia, TN 38401.
