Mr. Charles Edward Ervin, age 66, a resident of Ethridge, formerly of Culleoka, passed away Monday morning, March 2, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. The family has decided to postpone the service due to weather. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Dwain Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A native of Maury County, Charles was born on June 30, 1948 and was the son of the late Herman and Lula Collins Ervin. He was a devoted husband to his wife Phyllis Ervin for nearly thirty years. She preceded him in death in March of 2012. Charles drove a truck for seventeen years, but will be remembered most for his work in farming. He loved farming and tinkering around with his tractors. He also enjoyed showing cattle, in which he would travel and won many awards. Charles was a good father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters: Christy (Shawn) Bennett of Ethridge, Cassie (Brian) Perry of Columbia, Shannon (Jeremy) Wentzel of Cornersville; brothers: Larry (Shirley) Collins of Wichita, Kansas, Alford (Sandy) Ervin of Santa Fe, Mike (Anita) Ervin of Columbia; sister: Sheila Holt of Cornersville; ten grandchildren: Brookanna, Kailee, J'Coby, Kasen, Kynzlei, Colton, Hunter, Rylee, Michael, and Ava; several nieces and nephews; and one great-grandchild on the way, Brylei. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Hermie Ervin; sister: Patricia Bishop; and brothers: Wade Collins, Ched Ervin, and Gerry Ervin. Pallbearers will be: Steve Finley, Bubba Posey, Joey Ervin, Trey Collier, Joe Holt, Mikey Ervin, and Alan Ervin. Honorary pallbearers will be Mac Poag, Dr. Poag, and Lewis Osborne. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Kidney Foundation: 95 White Bridge Road, Suite 300, Nashville, TN 37205.
