Kathy Yates

November 8, 1955 - February 27, 2015

Mrs. Kathy Linton Yates, age 59, wife of Dale Yates, and a resident of Chestnut Ridge Road in Columbia, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Brother J.J. King officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 until the service time. Burial at Green Lawn Cemetery in Akron, Ohio will follow at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on November 8, 1955, in Long Beach, California, Kathy was the daughter of the late Walter C. Linton and Shirley Joan Sickels Linton. She was a Certified Nursing Technician at Visiting Angels in Brentwood, Tennessee and a member of New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church in Primm Springs. Known fondly as "Cookie Mama" by her family, Kathy was a woman deeply rooted in her faith in Jesus Christ, and she would joyfully share Him with others. She lived her faith, especially in her love of helping others, whether it was through her job or just random acts of kindness. She loved her husband, children and family, and has left a legacy of faith and love in all of their lives. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her husband, she is survived by step-children: Jesse (Ashley) Yates of Columbia, Carrie Snodgrass of Columbia, Travis (Katie) Yates of Mt. Pleasant, Sarah Yates of Shelbyville, and Angie Morgan; step-grandchildren: Nicholas Anderson, Gabriel Church, Lucas Yates, Chelsie Yates, Graciee Yates, Travis Lane Yates, Jaxen Swaim; nieces: Tina Linton of Barberton, OH, Konnie Linton of Virginia Beach, VA, Shannon Linton of Dallas, TX, Shirley Lawson of Barberton, OH; aunts: Charlene Lyle of Murfreesboro, Marlita Sickels of Davenport, IA; special cousins: Darlene Moore, Bobby Sickels, Chris McCroskey; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Linton. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenny Linton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dale Yates.
