Mr. Gary Neil Slusher, age 67, husband of Brenda Slusher, and a resident of Spring Hill, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. A service and receiving of friends for Mr. Slusher will be held at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, TN on Tuesday, February 24 at 1:30 PM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on May 24, 1947 in Rockwood, TN, Gary was the son of the late Franklin and Yvonne Fusenig Slusher. He was a loving husband to Brenda Headrick Slusher. Gary was proud of his service in the Signal Corp of the Army and greatly enjoyed his time as a paratrooper. Family was very important to Gary. Gary enjoyed his career in college recruiting and running his business, Gary's Bail Bonds, in Knoxville. Upon moving to Spring Hill, TN in 2011, he enjoyed retirement and volunteering for the Kidney Foundation and the Organ Donor Foundation. Gary was cherished and will be missed by many. The family is comforted by knowing he is pain-free and joyfully residing in Heaven. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son: Matthew Neil (Sherrill) Slusher, an Air Force Major serving in Germany; daughter: Jennifer Slusher (Kent) Thomas of Brentwood; brother: Paul Slusher of Virginia; sisters: Joyce Edwards of Knoxville, Michelle Pearson of Knoxville; and four grandchildren: Madeline Thomas, Avery Thomas, Leo Slusher, and Hailey Solomon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
