Mr. Billy "Slim" Anderson, age 81, husband of Patricia Anderson, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday evening, February 13, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. William Rolman officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Mount Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service time at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on January 12, 1934, in Maury County, Billy was the son of the late Joseph Moncy and Mary Thelma Stockard Anderson. He was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and a member of Pleasant Mount Presbyterian Church. He worked as a machine operator for Monsanto Chemical Company for 34 years, and after his retirement, worked several more years at Maury County Government Collection Center. He proudly served his country in the National Guard. In 1981, he married his best friend, Patricia Anderson. They enjoyed 33 years building a life and family together. In his spare time, Billy enjoyed camping and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He has left behind a legacy of love woven together by the threads of each of his family members. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter: Mary Carolyn Anderson of Columbia; step-children: Troy (Lisa) Potts of Mt Pleasant, Fonda Potts and Kim (Brent) Eaton, of Columbia; brother: Richard Glynn (Elise) Anderson of Columbia; sisters: Margaret Rochelle, Robbye Anderson, both of Columbia; grandchildren: Corey (Dianna) Anderson, Christopher Crumley, both of Columbia; step-grandchildren: John Michael Curtis of West Virginia, Ashley Curtis, Brandy Pruitt, Jay Pruitt, all of Columbia, Crystal Potts, Layne Potts, both of Mt. Pleasant; great grandchildren: Nicholas Anderson, Madeline Anderson, Olivia Anderson, Isaac Anderson. Seven step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Connie Marie Gilliam and Cathy Ann Anderson; brother: Lynn Anderson; and sister: Mary Jo Kerr. Eddie Kerr, Terry Anderson, James Rochelle, Doug Anderson, Michael Anderson, Mark Anderson, Roy Anderson, and Tim Rochelle will serve as active Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Maury County Government Collection Center, members of Hardison Mill Campground, the doctors and nurses on the Critical Care Unit at Maury Regional Medical Center, former employees of Monsanto, and Mike Lynch.
