Ira Webster

July 4, 1929 - February 2, 2015

Ira Mae Webster, age 85, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A homegoing celebration will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with David Spencer and Gary Wedgewood officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 3:00 until the visitation at 6:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A native of Hickman County, Ira Mae was the daughter of the late Ira and Ollie Mae Hornbeak Webster. In her earlier years, Ira Mae was a member of Hampshire Ridge United Methodist Church, but more recently attended Riverside United Methodist Church. She was an entrepreneur for many years, owning her own businesses throughout Maury County. Ira Mae also previously worked as a Kindergarten teacher in Lewis County and as a cosmetologist. She enjoyed cooking and baking, but she especially loved conversations with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter: Inna "Cretia" Poindexter of Smyrna, TN; grandchildren: Terrez Booker of Columbia, Gary Poindexter II of Bowling Green, KY; and cousin: Frankye Ward of Centerville, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Ira Jerome Webster; and brother: James W. Webster. Friends and family will serve as floral attendants and casket attendants.
