Mary Ellen Black Hutcherson, age 87, a resident of Primm Springs, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 19, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Howard Alexander and Keith Baker officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Burial will be held at Potts Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on April 11, 1927, in Maury County, Mary Ellen was the daughter of the late Thomas Sydney and Minnie Pearl Rummage Black. She attended Maury County School Systems while she was young and was a member of Elmore Church of the Nazarene. She was a great cook who also loved gardening and caring for her family. She loved the Lord, and had given her life to Christ at an early age. Known to her daughter, Nancy, as "Bubba," since she wasn't able to say "Mother" as a child, her family will remember her as a loving woman who gave selflessly of herself to her family and friends. She is survived by her sons: Gary Wayne Chunn of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Edward "Archie" (Jane) Chunn of Summertown; daughters: Cora Faye (Art) Shaffer of Ohio, and Nancy (Kevin) Hutcherson of Primm Springs; sister, Oma Wright of Columbia, ten grandchildren: Raymond, Sandy, Catherine, Leane, Lisa, Chris, Holly, Mary, Gina, and Stacey. A host of great grandchildren, as well as, several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Lowell Dale Chunn, two husbands, Montie Chunn and Tommy Hutcherson; brothers: Roy, Wilburn, Harlan, and Chesley; and sisters: Zelphia, Laminza, Sarah, Bertha, Susie, Elsie, and Jenny. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Elmore Church of the Nazarene and the staff at NHC Columbia. The family would like to extend special thanks to Celeste Cathey, Emily Kelly, Derek Cotham, Dr. Harris and the staff at NHC Columbia. Our hearts were truly broken; we wanted you to stay. But when we saw you sleeping so peaceful free of pain, how could we wish you back with us to go through that again. A golden heart stopped beating. Two busy hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he always takes the best.
