James Richie Jewell, Sr.

January 19, 1935 - January 12, 2015

Mr. James Richie Jewell, Sr. age, 79, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday morning, January 12, 2015 at Life Care Center of Columbia. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 12:00 PM at Polk Memorial Gardens with Bill Myers officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A native of Santa Fe, James was born on January 19, 1935 and was the son of the late O.C. Dillard and Ruth Gable Jewell. He retired from Monsanto Chemical Company. In his spare time, he enjoyed raising his show pigeons. He is survived by his grandchildren: Jay Jewell of Murfreesboro and Sara Jewell; and nieces: Linda Pinkard and Barbara Hooten both of Columbia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons: Richie Jewellm Roger Jewell, and Danny Jewell.
