Patricia Ann Carmack Mayberry, age 63, resident of Columbia, departed this life peacefully, on Sunday, January 11, 2015, surrounded by her family, in her home. Born November 2, 1951, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, Patricia Ann Carmack Mayberry was the daughter of the late Benjamin Farrell Carmack and Fronnie Fann Carmack. She was raised in Nashville, by the late E.M. and Gladys Fann, whom she loved with all her heart. She graduated from Isaac Litton High School in 1969 before moving to Columbia to start her own family and life. Ann was a kind and loving woman who never had anything negative to say to anyone. She would do anything she could to help another out, including giving you the last penny she had. Her children were her pride and joy and she loved them both very much. Once her granddaughter was born, her heart was stolen once again by Aaliyah whom referred to Ann as "Mammy." Not a day went by that "mammy" did not have a smile brought to her face by her granddaughter! Ann also mothered a girl for 14 years that she took in and loved as one of her own, Jennifer Lindsay, of Flint Michigan. Jennifer was part of the family and was loved deeply as such. Her family remembers the few jobs she held as ones she spoke frequently and lovingly of. She was blessed, her family recounts, to have families, both in the workplace and at home. One of those families was with Keith Baker Homes. When she left KBH, she went to work as a commercial underwriter for Haulers Insurance Co. Inc. where she gained another family. She worked until her retirement in 2010. Ann was a woman of Pentecostal faith and read her bible on a regular basis. One of her loves was angels and she collected several over the years. She also loved watching The Bill Gaither Gospel Hour and singing along with it, watching In The Heat of the Night, and re-run after re-run of 19 and Counting. She was a woman bound by faith and love for her family. During her final years, Patsy (Sid) Estes had become one of her best friends, and she loved and talked about her often. They would spend hours, sometimes, talking on the phone; and the joy on her face and in her voice when Patsy brought her dinner or breakfast was that of a child on Christmas morning, as she was always talking about how well Patsy cooked. Although she has left us here on earth, she is still looking down on each of her friends and family, and she is keeping a safe eye on us all and will remain in the hearts of all that knew her. She left behind two loving children that meant the world to her, a son, L. Derek Estes of Nashville, and a daughter, Amy L. Mayberry of Columbia. Other survivors include a granddaughter Aaliyah Mayberry of Columbia, a brother Jimmy (Carol) Fann of Columbia, and four sisters, Aliene Fann of Nashville, Jewell (Steve) Howard of Hermitage, Judy (Daryl) Bradshaw of Russell Springs KY, and Agnes (Bill) Thomas of Bakersfield, VT. Three nieces: Dana Howard, Jennifer (Randy) Fleming, and Denise (Ron) Ray, Seven Nephews: John (Dawn) Terry, Joel (Sherrye) Terry, Jason Terry, Harold (Debbie) Bradshaw, Tom (Lisa) Barry, Dr. Brian (Mitzi) Fann, and Paul (Summer) Fann. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Darla Bradshaw. Pallbearers will be John Terry, Joel Terry, Jason Terry, Harold Bradshaw, Tom Berry, Dr. Brian Fann, Paul Fann , and Randy Fleming. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Haulers Ins. Company along with the former employees of Keith Baker Homes, Roasie Conner whom took care of Ann till her death, and the employees of Care-All whom cared for Ann for many years since her retirement.
