Leigh A. Joubert, Sr.

March 19, 1949 - January 10, 2015

Leigh Joubert Mr. Leigh Arthur Joubert, Sr., age 65, husband of Janet L. Progin Joubert and a resident of Columbia, TN, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015, at his residence following an extended illness. He was surrounded by his loving wife and son. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at 5:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Father Bala officiating. The family will receive friends at 2:30 PM before the service on Wednesday. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on March 19, 1949, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Leigh was the youngest son of the late Wilfred R. and Dorothy E. Wells Joubert. He was raised around the Shrewsbury, Massachusetts area. He worked for General Motors Corp for 31 years. Retiring from Saturn Corporation of Tennessee in 1997, he was a member of the United Auto Workers Union. He was also a member of St Anne's Church in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. In his spare time and during his years of retirement, he enjoyed staying active RVing and camping, traveling, and fishing off Cape Cod and Florida. Leigh was very much an outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. He also enjoyed his pets as well as caring for deer which inhabited his property. He had a keen sense of humor and knew how to make those around him laugh. His quick wit could always be counted on to lighten a somber mood, and his family will think of him with a smile in spite of their sadness because of their memories. He will be forever remembered for the love he had for his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janet L. Progin Joubert, a son, and daughter-in-law to be, Leigh A. Joubert II and his fiancée Beatriz Alvarez. He is also survived by his brother, Harold W. Joubert of Whitinsville, Massachusetts. He also leaves behind several close friends.
