Linda Marie Parrish Craig, age 62, a resident of Parrish Lane in Columbia, passed away Wednesday morning, January 7, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2pm at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Parrish, Pastor Dave Baker, and James Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Allen Cemetery in Lewisburg. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, January 8th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service on Friday. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born in Detroit, Michigan on December 19, 1952, Linda was the daughter of the late Martin Douglas Parrish and Vivian Mildred Vermeesch Parrish. She was a 1971 graduate of Culleoka Unit School. Growing up she enjoyed reading, always had a book in hand. She eventually became a wonderful writer and song writer. Enjoying music so well, Linda worked as a DJ for WAXO radio station in Lewisburg for a few years. She also ran the Crisis Shelter in Columbia. Linda was a simple woman who was country tough. She was also very proud of having her minister's license, of a non-denominational faith. She attended Colonial Meadows Church for Christ. One thing Linda finally got to do was see the ocean, which she had wanted to do for a long time because she loved the water. Most of all, Linda was a happy woman who cherished spending time and making memories with her family. She will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sons: Dustin Shane Craig of Nashville, Brandon Cheyene (Tricia) Craig of Columbia; brothers: Larry Martin (Cheryl) Parrish of Columbia, Jimmy David (Tammy Jo) Parrish of Columbia, Ronnie Joe (Patricia) Parrish of Columbia; sisters: Nancy Rose Parrish Steagall of Culleoka, Sally Velma Parrish (Kenneth) Crain of Columbia, Norma Jean Parrish Peden of Columbia; seven grandchildren: Christian Jimenez, Deanna Marie Vandegriff, Savannah Faith Craig, Nicholas Gabriel Craig, Cortlan Shane Craig, Lillian Grace Craig, and Ethan Taylor Craig; family best friend: James Adams; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her nephew: Trinity Rhodes Steagall. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Crain, Christian Jimenez, Jimmy Parrish, Marty Parrish, Cortlan Craig, Nicholas Craig, Jacob Carry, and Jimmy Jenkins. Jason Cox, Willis Brown, and Marc Craig will serve as honorary pallbearers.
