Raul Macias

Raul Hernandez Macias, Sr., age 79, a resident of Cliff White Road in Columbia, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Heritage Medical Center in Shelbyville. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Father Davis Chackaleckel officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. An inurnment will be held in Maury Memorial Gardens, adjacent to Heritage Funeral Home, at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on March 4, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas, Raul was the son of the late Pedro and Isabel Hernandez Macias. He served his country as a United States Marine and worked as a machinist. He was of the Catholic faith, and he enjoyed fishing as well as watching old movies. He is survived by his son: Raul Hernandez Macias, Jr.; daughters: Hilda Vizcarra, Yolanda Hardison, Helen Dunn; brother: Rutillo Macias; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 17 brothers and sisters.
