John Phillip Allen

John Phillip Allen, age 50, a resident of Woods Drive in Columbia, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014. Funeral services for Phillip will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Shawn Jeffries and Andrew Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the TN National Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born June 12, 1964 in Columbia, Phillip was the son of James D. and Janice Massey Allen. He graduated Columbia Central High School in 1982, attended Columbia State Community College and graduated from TN Technology in Nashville. Phillip retired as a Staff Sergeant from the TN National Guard after 20 years of service, served a tour of duty in Desert Storm and he was presently working for Kroger. He was an avid football fan and fisherman and he enjoyed reading. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sons: Jonathan Todd Allen of Smyrna and Phillip James Allen of Columbia; his daughter: Katie Allen of Coalmont, TN; brother: Michael Wayne (Amy) Allen of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a brother: James Kenneth "Ken" Allen; sister: Perry Annette Allen Hunt; grandparents James Smith, Lillie Allen, Lorena Hann and William Massey. Pallbearers will be Kevin Holt, Jack Turner, Wayne Clark, Phillip Burns, Mike Johns, John Hunt and Dwayne Massey. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Hunt, William O. McClain, Rob Allen, Will Allen, Wayne Massey, Larry Massey, Steven Massey, Kerry Massey, Employees of Kroger and former TN National Guard members.
