Thelma Ludine Griggs Hill, age 85, a resident of Fly Road in Santa Fe, passed away Wednesday evening, December 3, 2014 at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Hill will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Burial will follow in the Santa Fe Cemetery in Santa Fe, TN with family members and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on June 17, 1929 in Maury County, TN, Thelma was the daughter of the late Joseph Leland Griggs and Lavinia Jane Harris Griggs, and she was the wife of the late Luther Thomas Hill, whom she married on January 4, 1947. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1974. Mrs. Hill was a seamstress for Dixie Manufacturing, Weather Tammer and Winning Moves. She loved to crochet and knit, cook, and work puzzles. She loved her family and her church and spent many hours reading her Bible. She attended Johnson Chapel School, Bethel School and Santa Fe School. Mrs. Hill leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Marion (Kay) Hill of Columbia, Phillip (Julie) Hill of Santa Fe, Susan (Teddy) Reese of Santa Fe; sister: Lilly Ester Johnson of Murfreesboro; grandchildren: Jason Thomas Hill, Michael Anthony Hill, Tony Reese, T.W. Reese, Matthew Hill and Halie Hill; great grandchildren: Savannah Hill, Lane Hill, Aubree Hill, Jordon Reese, Tera Thomasson, James Bowers and Marie Bowers; and special friend: Rachel Beard. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Richard Griggs, James M. Griggs, Rulen Griggs and Arthur Carmack Griggs; sisters: Edith Litton, Mary McCandless and her twin sister, Velma Thompson.
