Mr. James Howard Buchanan, age 72, a resident of Westview Drive in Columbia, passed away Tuesday morning, November 25, 2014 at his residence. A Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, November 29th at 1:00pm at St. Paul AME Methodist Church in Columbia with Elder Lewis Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Friday, November 28th from 6-7pm at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. James was born on March 3, 1942 and was the son of the late James Cullam Buchanan and the late Annie Belle Bailey Buchanan. He graduated from Carver Smith High School. Afterwards, he attended college for a year. James was well known for many years in the mobile home industry. He was a part of manufacturing and installation of homes for many years with Challenger Homes of Columbia, Tennessee. Most recently he was a member of the St. Paul AME Methodist Church. He had lots of hobbies, including hunting, gardening, and fishing. He also enjoyed training Tennessee walking horses. He enjoyed watching sports with his favorite being the Tennessee Titans. All will miss James that knew him. He is survived by his sons: Howard Buchanan of Louisville, KY, Kerry (Larissa) Buchanan of Columbia, TN, Sharrod (Lottie) Mostiller of Columbia, TN, Michael (Dion) Buchanan of Memphis, TN, and Eric Buchanan of Columbia, TN; daughter: Keyonna (John) Benyi of LaVergne, TN; brother: Clyde (Claritha) Buchanan of Columbia, TN; 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Marcia Yokley and his second wife Patricia Mostiller.
