Mary Jean Hadley Tomlin Gidcomb, age 78, wife of James Gidcomb and a resident of Haley Lane in Columbia, TN passed away Monday, November 17, 2014, at her residence. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 19th at 2:30PM at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rick Points officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 12-2pm at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Mary Jean was born on August 25, 1936 in Nashville, TN and was the daughter of the late Byron Carr Hadley and the late Mary Frances Green Hadley. She was a member of Colonial Meadows Church for Christ in Columbia. Mary Jean was a loving person that cared about everyone, always trying to make others laugh. She was a lady that found the most enjoyment in life by spending time with family, being a wonderful great grandmother, wife, mother, and sister. Those that knew her well called her "Mama Jean." She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. Along with her loving husband of 38 years, James Fred Gidcomb, she is survived by two sons: Roger Dale (Sharon) Tomlin of Culleoka, and Ronnie Eugene Tomlin of Columbia; step-children: Peggy Gidcomb, David (Rita) Gidcomb both of Columbia, Freddie (Doris) of Mt. Pleasant, Bonnie Moore of Savannah; brothers: Bobby Carr Hadley of Pineview, TN and Jerry Wayne Hadley of Fairview, TN; grandchildren: Jason Dale Tomlin, Angela Ann Tomlin, and Sonya Jean Tomlin, all of Columbia, Lori Michelle Sparkman of Gallatin, Matthew Brandon Tomlin of Columbia, and Daniel Craig (Linda) Bobo of Summertown; and ten great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a son: Charles Neal Tomlin and a brother Frankie Dean Hadley. Pallbearers will be Daniel Bobo, Johnny McGaw, Anthony Pope, Austin Stanfill, Joshua Velasquez, and David Gidcomb. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Reed and staff.
