Lou C. Alford, age 82, a resident of Lewisburg, passed away Friday evening, November 14, 2014, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at Jones Cemetery on Monday, November 17, 2014, at 11:00 AM. The family will visit with friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, prior to the service, at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on July 2, 1932, in Maury County, Lou was the daughter of the late William Robert and Sarah Jane Rummage Chumbley. She was a member of the Church of Christ faith and a Licensed Practical Nurse for 23 years. She enjoyed traveling, and especially loved her family. Lou will be remembered as an independent lady who loved caring for her home and her family, as well as helping others. She had a good sense of humor and had the unique ability of laughing at her own self. She valued the importance of a job well done, and could be counted on to never do anything half-way or improperly. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories to her family. She is survived by a brother: Robert B. "Jack" (Olene) Chumbley of Tremont, Mississippi; as well as two sisters: Ruth Sharp of Cornersville and Annie Garrett of Lewisburg. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Earl Chumbley, Edward Chumbley, L.A. Chumbley, and J.C. Chumbley.
