The family will visit with friends on Friday, November 7th from 4-8pm in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home: 609 Bear Creek Pike. Columbia, Tennessee. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on September 5, 1972, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Darrell was the son of Harold Clinton Perritt and Jackie Elizabeth Taylor Perritt. He was a 1990 graduate of Spring Hill High School. He began work at the age of 12 in the construction business. Yet, his dream in life was to become a police officer, and he did just that. He became a reserve officer with the Maury County Sheriff's department over two years ago, and went on to graduate from police academy just a few months ago. His love for his job and his community kept him dedicated. His fellow officers will remember his infectious smile. His greatest legacy will be the love he showed for his family. Darrell was also a man who loved to laugh and to make others laugh. He often could be found playing practical jokes on his family, friends, and co-workers. He was a man who loved people. He loved talking to them, getting to know their stories, but especially helping them. His friends and family will forever remember him as a man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. In his spare time, Darrell enjoyed spending time with his family and practicing taekwondo, in which he was a second degree black belt. Along with his loving wife of 22 years and 9 months, Ashley Bates Perritt, Darrell is survived by his parents: Harold and Jackie Perritt of Lewisburg; children: Chelsea Perritt, Taylor Perritt, and Conner Perritt, all of Spring Hill; brother: Blake Clinton Perritt of Monticello, Mississippi; sister: Danelle Gray of Columbia; nieces: Kaitlyn, Kaleigh, and Marah; and nephew Blake Allan. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Mack and Ureline Summers; paternal grandparent: Hassie Perritt; and an aunt: Diane Nuernberg. Pallbearers will be Blake Perritt, Blake Allen Perritt, Shane Alleman, David Roachelle, Chris Bates, Darryl Gray, Jeff Belcher, and Logan Hibbitts. Honorary pallbearers will be the Maury County Sheriff's Department and Chase Herring. A memorial fund has been set up at First Tennessee Bank in Spring Hill, Tennessee.
