Herschel Patterson

Mr. Herschel Patterson, age 94, resident of Columbia, formerly of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at LifeCare Center in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 27, 2014, at 4:00 PM at Herdon-Pharr Funeral Home in Hope, Arkansas. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens in Hope, Arkansas. The family will visit with friends on Monday, one hour prior to the service at 3:00 PM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Herschel was born on August 8, 1920, in Hope, Arkansas. He was the son of Hosie Ernest Patterson and Zelma Skinner. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Arkansas and worked as a road superintedant for the Arkansas Highway Department. He also owned a gas station in Hope, AR. He is survived by three grandchildren: L. Samuel Patterson of Columbia, Zane Patterson, and Jan (Rob) Greenwood; one sister-in-law: Margaret Still. He was preceded in death by his wife: Dorcee Moore Patterson; and his son: Larry Patterson.
