October 10, 2014

William E. King, well known mule puller of the Theta Community, and husband of Anita Lancaster King, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, October 11th from 2-9pm at Heritage Funeral Home. A private family entombment will be held on Sunday at Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, adjacent to Heritage Funeral Home with Joe Batey and Curtis Hall officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born in Williamson County on April 22, 1942, W.E. was the son of Lecey Hughes King and the late Eugene King. He was a loving husband and family man who was loved by all his friends and neighbors in the Theta Community. W.E. enjoyed working with his father and brothers in the log woods and being outside. His family described him as being the best person to go on a trip with, especially to the Smokey Mountains. W.E. has four Jack Russell Terriers that were his pride and joy and one beagle named Arthur. He was especially known for his mule pulling and mule trading. He did just about anything you could do with mules. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, and as his wife stated, "he will always be in my heart." In addition to his mother and wife Anita, he is survived by his children: Scotty (Lisa) Dial of Columbia, Misti (Jim) Johnson of Spring Hill; special niece: Shena Lancaster (Coty Speck); brothers: Joe (Brenda) King of Peytonsville, Lester King of the Boston Community; sister: Estelle (Gary) Denton of the Boston Community; and grandchildren: Shelby Dial and Abby Griggs. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin King. Pallbearers will be Todd King, Jack Denton, Jason King, Joey King, Luke Jones, Carl Hutcherson, Jr., Case O'Field, Brody O'Field, Hunter Jones, Colton Sanders, and Brad Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be all of W.E's friends of Harpeth Ridge, and all of his mule pulling friends.
