William Edgar (Ed) Garrard, age 80, passed away September 28, 2013. His family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Lynnwood Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements. Ed Garrard was born in Alabama and was the son of the late Lester and Ida Chandler Garrard; his family later moved to Columbia, TN where he attended Maury County Schools. He joined the Navy in 1952 and was a bowsman aboard the USS Estes stationed in San Diego, California. He was a certified Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Counselor and a graduate of former Nick Harris Detective Agency of Van Nuys, California. Of his five brothers, he was the youngest, and his family gave him the nickname "Babe." His love for music was incredible and was his lifelong passion. He is survived by a loving daughter: Rebecca (Rudy) Sarzo of Woodland Hills, California; step-son: Wayne Dawg; son: Phillip Drew Garrard of Reseda; 2 granddaughters: Kylie and Isabella; and sisters: Eva (Pearl) Calton of Cleveland, Ohio, Geneva (Charles) Pipkin of Columbia, Helen Marie Cothron of Columbia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Alvin Garrard, Noven Garrard, Lester Garrard, Alton Garrard.
