Mrs. Maxine Elliot Baker Lockhart (Mama Moon), age 79, a lifetime resident of the Santa Fe Community died on Friday, September 5, 2014 in Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 7 at 4:00 PM from the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, officiated by Brother Joe Bowers and Keith Baker. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at 4:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Santa Fe Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Maxine was the daughter of Benton Hunter Baker and Mary Archer Baker, both of whom preceded her in death in 1969 and 1982, respectively and was the wife of Jack Stephens Lockhart for 57 years, who survives her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters: Evelyn Nadine Baker, Thelma Augusta Baker Howlett (Church Howlett) and Mary Esta Baker Holt; brothers: Vernon Hunter Baker, Lindon Roger Baker (Donna Bell Baker) and Jerry Archer Baker; a niece: Kristi Gaye Peach; brothers-in-law: Kenneth Peach and Rob Fox; and father and mother-in-law: Hershel and Gladys Galloway Lockhart. In addition to her husband: Jack Lockhart, she is survived by her children: Steve (Pam) Lockhart of Columbia, Marty Lockhart of Santa Fe and Sissy Lockhart (Dean) Sewell of Santa Fe; grandchildren: Trevor (Amanda) Lockhart of Winchester and Lindsey Sewell (Kyle Rowekamp) of Santa Fe; sisters: Colleen Baker (Tom) Hargrove and Gaye Baker Peach of Santa Fe; brother: Randall (Jean) Baker of Santa Fe; sisters-in-law: Virginia Layman Baker of Blacksburg, VA, Jean Lockhart (Frank) Walker of Columbia and Nancy Lockhart Fox of Santa Fe; brother-in-law: Jason (Trisha) Holt of Goose Creek, SC. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her special caregivers: Carol Schmidt and Megan and Alayna Waller. Maxine was actively involved in bowling, clogging and line dancing for many years. She attended basketball games while her children and grandchildren were in school, and every year thereafter. She loved sports, sewing, cooking and tending to her flowers, and delighted in having her family to her house for a meal on special occasions. She was a member of the Santa Fe Methodist Church, attended Sylvan Heights School, and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1953. Pallbearers will be Trevor Lockhart, Dean Sewell, Kyle Rowekamp, Lindon Baker, Danny Fox, Larry Baker and Bishop Turrentine.
