Richard Etheridge

July 3, 1931 - August 30, 2014

Richard Carlton Etheridge, Sr., age 83, jokester, avid golfer, resale trader, and animal lover died August 29, 2014 suddenly of a stroke while working on his daughter's vacuum cleaner. He retired from the Marine Corp after twenty-one years. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a resident of Franklin for twenty-three years. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years: Catherine Etheridge and five children: Richard Jr., Catherine Wood; Carolyn Spain; Linda Inman and Patti Etheridge. Richard has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and one Sheltie dog named Angel. His family will remember him for his sense of humor that brightened all of their lives. He was always the energy in the room. Richard enjoyed cooking, cleaning and repairing everything for his family, even vacuum cleaners. He excelled at watching war stories and the history channel. He loved to use the remote control to flip between storage wars and pawn stars. Richard had a long love affair with fruit cake, steak, pecan pie, his Sheltie, and his wife, possibly in that order. Because of the irrational fear that the family would throw him a golf-themed funeral, he asked his family to hold an immediate private family only service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations to Goodwill Thrift Store, one of his favorites.
