Larry Hood

August 3, 1949 - August 22, 2014

Larry B. Hood, age 65, a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014, at his residence. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 27th at 7PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Keith Baker officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 6PM until the service hour at 7PM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements. Born in Columbia, TN on August 3, 1949 and was the son of the late Fred Buford and Margaret Elizabeth Love Hood. Larry never met a stranger and was always willing to help in any situation. He expressed himself through writing songs and poetry. When he took time for himself you could find him riding a motorcycle or enjoying his hobby of gun and knife collecting. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed being outside, exercising and taking care of his animals. He leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters: Hayley (Chris) Burgess of Columbia, Stacy (Doug) Wright of Columbia; brother: Marvin Ray Hood of Columbia; sister: Paulette (Dwight) Shouse of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren: Ashlee (Joe) Calton, Abigail Burgess, Zacharias Burgess; two great-grandchildren: Knox and Zane Calton; nieces: Kim (John) Waldrum, Amanda (Adam) Smith, Tammy Fuller; nephews: Brian Shouse, Robert LaCroix; and several other nieces and nephews. Additionally, he leaves behind his American Bulldog: Rico; and Jack Russell: Molly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Linda Lou LaCroix; brothers: Freddie Hood and Howard Hood; and niece: Amy Turner.
