Margaret Fly Henegar

May 20, 1916 - August 1, 2014

Mrs. Margaret Fly Henegar, age 98 of Franklin passed away August 1, 2014 at Claiborne and Hughes Nursing Home. Graveside services were conducted Sunday, August 3 at 4:00 PM in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home of Franklin assisted the family with the arrangements. Mrs. Henegar was born May 22, 1916 in Brentwood, TN and was the daughter of Alton N. and Myrtle Rash Fly. She was a homemaker and member of the Belmont United Methodist Church for many years. Margaret will be remembered as a virtuous woman, as described in Proverbs 31. She adored her two grandsons, Matt and Andy, and had a very direct hand in raising them. As their father served his nation and their mother travelled in her career, "Nana" was there to take up the difference. Together as a family, they loved each other. She was active in her church as long as her health allowed and loved to cook and keep the home. Her life became more fulfilled as great-grandchildren came into the family and allowed her to once again be around babies. She always had a special place in her heart for children. Mrs. Henegar is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Debbie & Capt. Chuck Neighbors USN Ret, of Franklin; two grandsons: CPT. Andy Neighbors and his wife, Lizzie, and Matt Neighbors; and 5 great-grandchildren: Aiden, Trevor, Aubrey, Elliana and Henley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her only brother: Douglas Fly.
