Johnnie Geneva Holt, age 98, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center. The funeral service for Johnnie will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Larry Benderman officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. A native of Maury County, Johnnie was born on May 13, 1916 and was the daughter of the late John Wilson and Hittie Ann Lentz Jett. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ. She was married to Lawson Lee Holt on March 13, 1943. Lawson preceded her in death in 1980. Johnnie previously worked in production at Weather Tamer. She was a master quilter who hand sewed many quilts. She enjoyed working outdoors, gardening and canning her vegetables. She loved being around people, most importantly, her family. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters: Patsy Brady of Columbia, Peggy Jean (Billy) Sims of Culleoka, JoAnn (Mike) Posey of Tullahoma, Linda (Phillip) Crawford of Murfreesboro, Mary Ellen (Ron) Watson of Chattanooga, Donna (Robert) Whitley of Culleoka; twelve grandchildren: Patrick Brady, Renee McCaig, Frankie Sims, Scott Sims, Meredith Hamm, Kristin Posey, Kimberly Berry, Tracy Pigg, Bryan Crawford, Lance Watson, Dawn Wallace, Sommar Jaynes; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Frankie Sims, Scotty Sims, Lance Watson, Bryan Crawford; and grandsons-in-law, Ross Jaynes and Brian Pigg. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnnie's co-workers at Weather Tamer, members of Highland Church of Christ, and Dr. Mann. Special friends are Joy and Danny Davidson, Sarah Posey, Grace Whitley, Louise Brown, and Sara Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Highland Church of Christ: 497 E. James Campbell Blvd, Columbia, TN 38401.
