David H Estes

November 17, 1944 - June 28, 2014

Mr. David H. Estes, age 69 of Culleoka, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Danny Riggins. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery at Culleoka. The family will be at the funeral home for visitation on Monday, June 30 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM to receive friends, and again prior to the service on Tuesday. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born November 17, 1944 in Maury County, Mr. Estes was the son of the late L. D. Estes and Mrs. Mary Etta Brown Estes, who survives. He was formerly employed with ICP in Lewisburg and also worked as a mechanic. He married Elizabeth Ann McCullom in April, 1974 and they shared their lives together until her passing in Feb, 2011. David was a dreamer. He constantly made plans for the future, but made sure to fulfill those dreams throughout life. He accomplished many things, but still had a lifetime of plans ahead of him. He was an artist. David loved to paint and express himself in color. When he wasn't at his easel, you could find him cooking or caring for his flowers. His artistic abilities were fulfilled in numerous ways. David was a fixer. Never buying anything new, he could fix or create anything he needed. A new tractor on the farm meant a clunker that had to be rebuilt and painted. He believed it was best to repair and create instead of just paying the exorbitant prices to buy something new. Finally, David was a man of faith. As a member of the Pentecostal church he loved to talk about scripture and share his faith in God. Although he was unable to speak in the final days of his life, he was able to praise God through hearing songs and clapping. Just hours before his eyes opened to see his eternal reward he was heard saying, "Praise God, Almighty!" His expression of faith will be the source of strength and comfort to his family as they face his passing. In addition to his mother: Mary Etta Brown Estes of Culleoka, he is survived by a son: Tim (Sherrie) Estes of Culleoka; three daughters: Sandra (Timothy) Pugh of Summertown, Patricia (Don) Brown of Columbia, and Tammy (Gary) Wills of Columbia; a brother: Sidney (Patsy) Estes of Columbia; 4 sisters: Barbara (Monte) McCandless of Culleoka, Faye (Phillip) Parrish of Culleoka, Mary Davidson of Culleoka and Debbie (Chris) England of Columbia; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Additionally, he loved his dogs: Cody and Beasley. He especially enjoyed spoiling them with the "morsels" he would feed them. He was preceded in death by his father: L. D. Estes; his wife: Elizabeth McCullom Estes; and a son: David Lee Estes. Pallbearers will be Cory Pugh, Micheal Estes, Hunter Estes, Larry Wayne Smithson, Andy Smithson and Nathan Davidson. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff of CARIS Hospice, the Northside Staff of Northside Medical Professionals, and Jacob Estes.
