Mrs. Virginia Johns, age 88, a resident of Early Rd in Columbia and former resident of the Water Valley Community, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at her residence. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Dawson and Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Mrs. Johns was born on February 1, 1926 in Giles County, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late William Rufus and Minnie Pearl Ward Lawhorn and the widow of the late Owen E. Johns, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2005. She was a wonderful person who loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed working puzzle books and sewing, especially making quilts. She is survived by her daughter: Rachel (Bernard) Sealy of Hohenwald; sons: Ronnie Johns of Beech Grove; Billy (Joan) Johns of Columbia; Larry Johns of Shelbyville; Aaron (Tina) Johns of Columbia and Nathan (Cindy) Johns of Williamsport; brothers: RJ Lawhorn of Enterprise, AL; Monroe Lawhorn of Pulaski; and Sammy Lawhorn of Pulaski; grandchildren: Tina Johns; Beth Springer; Becky Caballero; Marty Johns; Douglas Johns; Jason Johns; Lacey Pagett; Christy Nash; and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Patricia Johns; two sisters and one brother. Pallbearers will be: Clyde Kennedy III; Noe Caballero; Richardo Sealy; Jason Johns; Keith Lawhorn; and Douglas Johns; honorary pallbearers are: Dr. CW Ball; Dr. Thomas Dake; Evone Wells; Sunday school at First Family Church.
