Clarence Alexander

April 10, 1935 - June 16, 2014

Mr. Clarence Alexander, age 79, husband of Odie Lee Braden Alexander, and a resident of Pulaski, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at NHC- Pulaski. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Kenneth Duke officiating. The family will also visit with friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the service hour at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Nashville National Cemetery at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A native of Maury County, Clarence was born on April 10, 1935 and was the son of the late Earl Kenneth and Beatrice Gertrude Alexander. He served his country in the United States Army as a Parratrooper. He also previously worked as a general contractor. He was a member of Round Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing as well as watching football and other sports. Clarence loved farming and gardening and was a hard worker who was disciplined and strict. He was an encourager who had a heart of gold and was a caring man who loved giving to others. Clarence was a provider and supported his family and his mother at home. He loved his church and served as deacon for many years. In addition to his wife, Odie, of 56 years, he leaves behind to cherish his memory five children: Sadie Miller of Pulaski, Johnny (Peaches) Nowlin of Culleoka, Clinnon Alexander of Pulaski, Faye (Sheldon) Powell of Nashville, Miriam Lee Alexander of Nashville; siblings: Jack George (Almedia) Alexander of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Bitha Alexander of New York; sisters-in-law: Biddie Alexander of Lynnville, Joyce Alexander of Nashville; nine grandchildren: Alex Reynolds, Corrine Miller, Cynthia Nowlin, Schanda Yarbrough, Tracey Johnson, Clinnon Alexander, Jr., John Cameron Alexander, Durell A. Carney, Maya Powell; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, an d cousins. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: John Alexander, Miles Alexander; sisters: Pearl Brown and Jennie Gillbreath. Honorary pallbearers will be his loyal friend, Bobbie Swinea and Kenneth Duke who was like a son to Clarence.
