Herbert W. Adcock, Sr. age 80 of Gene Fitzgerald Road in the Theta Community, passed away Sunday morning, May 18, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home officiated by Jimmie Rowland. Burial will follow in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, May 20th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Herbert was born April 22, 1034 in Maury County and was the son of the late Herbert W. Adcock and Ruby Smith Adcock Matthews. He was a retired Oil & Diesel Mechanic with Occidental with 33 ½ years of service. During his employment, he only missed 8 days of work due to illness. He was a member of the redeemed ministry. Herbert was a graduate of Columbia Central High School where he played football for the Lions. In his free time, he loved coon hunting and was a member of the Coon Hunter's Club in Maury County. In addition to coon hunting, Herbert also loved fishing. He played an extra in the movie "Rain Tree County" starring Elizabeth Taylor when he lived in Kentucky. He is survived by his wife of 32 years: Kim Byrd Adcock of the Theta Community; two daughters: Sharon Wingler and Deborah McEwen, both of Nashville; two sons: Herbert Adcock and Robert Thurman, both of Columbia; sister: Shirley Ragsdell; two step-children: Tracy Walls and Shon Walls, both of Columbia; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 5 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father: Herbert W. Adcock, Sr.; and his mother Ruby Smith Adcock Matthews. Pallbearers will be Vince Scott, Ronnie Byrd, David King, Greg Lewis, Deborah McEwen, Shon Walls, Joe Lewis, and Dwight Fox. Honorary Pallbearers Tracy Walls, and Grandchildren.
