David A. Fortin

January 16, 1944 - April 23, 2014

David A. Fortin, age 70 of Campbellsville Pike in Columbia, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center, now awaiting the resurrection of the redeemed at Christ's return. His family gathered privately on Friday afternoon to share stories and prayers, and to say good-bye to their loving father, husband, grandpa and friend. Heritage Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. David was born January 16, 1944 in Detroit, MI and was the son of Chester and Alma Crohn Fortin. He was a carpenter and heavy equipment operator by trade, but will be most fondly remembered as a devoted family man and friend to everyone he met. David loved fishing and just being outdoors, especially riding a bicycle or motorcycle, and was a devoted Tennessee Titans fan. He is survived by one daughter: Kristie Fortin Otero of Trenton, FL; two grandchildren: David and Raymond Otero; his wife of 20 years, friend and companion of 35 years: Mary Rebecca Hill of Columbia; a step-son: Jarvis Hill of Culleoka; two step-grandchildren: Dallas and Ashlee Hill; and his former wife, and mother of Kristie, Karen Thompson of Trenton, FL; and one sister. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Paul Fortin.
