George T. Kennedy

April 12, 1931 - April 1, 2014

Mr. George Thomas Kennedy, age 82, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee; went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. A Graveside Celebration for George will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 2:00 Pm at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Georgina Kennedy officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements. A native of Wharncliffe, West Virginia, he was the son of the late George C. and Laura Zella Kennedy. He retired from General Motors in Livonia, Michigan in 1988 and from 2002 until his passing he had worked with G4S Security at the General Motors Plant in Spring Hill. A faithful member and elder of Solid Rock Family Worship Center, he was known to everyone as "dad" and was a true Christian example to all who knew him. His love for the Lord and his family were both evident as you would engage in conversation with George. His witty, humorous personality will truly be missed by all of his family and friends. George left behind to cherish his memory two children: Rev. Georgina (Timothy Hicks) Kennedy of Columbia, TN and Ronald (Theresa) Kennedy of Hartland, MI; daughter-in-law Charlene Kennedy of Spring Hill, TN; eight loving grandchildren ; eight wonderful great-grandchildren and two more on the way; and his best friend and singing partner for the last fourteen years, Marie Pressnell of Columbia, TN. In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years Elizabeth Pauline Kennedy in May of 2000 and his eldest son Stephen T. Kennedy in June of 2008.
