Sandra Ann "Doodle Bug" Collins Cates, 8 month old infant daughter of Miranda Collins and Robert Cates passed away, Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A funeral service for Sandra will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 3PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Russ Adcox and Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Neapolis Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 4-8PM at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Sandra was born on July 3, 2013 in Columbia, TN. She was and always will be a beautiful and full of life baby girl. There was never a dull moment when she was around. She had lots of love which she shared among all of her family, especially her 4 moth old friend, Kenley Butterworth. All of the love and affection she gave could be felt by everyone. The Collins family and friends want to extend a special thanks to the Maury County EMS and Maury Regional Emergency Department and a very special thanks to Vanderbilt University Children's Hospital ICU/ Trauma team for everything they did for Sandra Ann and her family. In addition to her parents, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her maternal grandmother: Lorrie "MeMe" Collins; maternal grandfather: Ricky "Paw Paw" Collins; uncle: Richard "Uncle Bubba" Collins; paternal grandfather: Steven Cates; uncle: Rudy Cates; aunt: Kelly Cates; cousins: Jennifer Collins, Alex Collins, Cheyanne Collins, Emma Cates; maternal great-grandmother: Wilma "Maw Maw" Stewart; maternal great-grandfather: HB "Grandaddy" Stewart; paternal great-grandmother: Nancy Cates; and paternal great-grandfather: Dale Cates. Pallbearers will be Richard Collins and Rudy Cates. Honorary Pallbearers will be friends and family. Memorial donations may be made to the Sandra Ann Collins Cates Memorial Fund, c/o Heritage Funeral Home: 609 Bear Creek Pike, Columbia, TN. All proceeds will go to the family.
