Mr. Jozsef J. "Joe" Arpasy, age 76 of Lewisburg, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at NHC-Lewisburg. The family will celebrate his life at a late date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Jozsef was born May 9, 1937 in Gyor, Hungary. Citizens of Hungary broke into revolution against the Soviet-backed government in what is known as the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. As part of that movement, 19 year old Jozsef was urged to flee his native country, leaving behind all the family he knew. Crossing several miles of minefields with some of his friends, they later arrived in Austria. While standing in line to board a ship for a new life in Australia, Joe grew tired of the wait. He changed lines and boarded a ship for America. His life in America led him to service in the United States Army. He trained as a Dental Lab Specialist and made a career as a denturist, creating dentures for the patients of many local dentists. Joe loved to spend time fishing and was always happy to enter a conversation, or debate, about politics. Preceded in death by his wife: Flo Arpasy in 2007, Joe is survived by two daughters: Denise Guillemette and Sherry Cummings of Lewisburg; grandchildren: Timothy Guillemette of Cedar City, UT, Michael Jason Liborio of Beaverton, OR, Crystal Reynolds of Bronx, NY, Whitney Guillemette, Amber Cummings and Ronald Rickard, all of Lewisburg: 6 great-grandchildren; and one God son.
