James "Jim" Houston Hayes, Sr.

April 20, 1952 - March 5, 2014

James (Jim) Houston Hayes, Sr., age 61, a resident of Columbia departed Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at his residence. Memorial services will be conducted at Heritage Funeral Home, Sunday, March 9th at 3:30 PM with Rev. Mylen Coble officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday, March 9th from 2:00 - 3:30 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. James was born to the late Hughes Wilson Hayes and Blanche (Goosby) Hayes of Tampa, Florida. James graduated from H.B. Plant High School in Tampa and entered the US Air Force where he and his late wife Linda J. (Mouriquand) Hayes were both stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. James returned to Tennessee and worked as an electrician and was a member of the Local Union 429 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. James is preceded in death by his son: James H. Hayes, Jr. (LJ), and wife Linda (Mouriquand) Hayes. He is survived by his sister: Helen Gail Estes; brother: Bobby (Caroline) W. Hayes of Nashville; nieces: Teresa (Tim) Beaver; Tammie (Kevin) Burns; Sherry (Danny) Slaughter; Sheila (Howard) White; Crystal (Paul) Remagen; nephews: David F. Hayes all of Columbia; and Daniel W. Hayes of Murfreesboro.
