Mr. Walker Davis, age 91, husband of Betty Eubank Davis and a resident of Woodmont Drive in Columbia, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at NHC Hillview. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 6:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Franklin Williams officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A private burial will follow in the Santa Fe Cemetery. Visitation with family will be on Friday two hours prior to the service from 4-6 PM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born in Maury County on March 28, 1922, he was the son of the late Johnny and Bertha Anderson Davis. Walker was previously married to the mother of his children, Emma Morton Davis, who preceded him in death.. He was of the Church of Christ faith, and served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He worked for Union Carbide for 31 years and later worked for General Management for about 10 years. Walker was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed gardening. He loved people and never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor and took pleasure in everything. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Walker will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Along with his wife, of nearly 40 years, Walker leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters: Linda Knowles of Columbia and Kaye (Danny) Walters of Hampshire; step-daughter: Donna (Jerry) Locke of Columbia; step-son: Kevin Hanvy of South Carolina; brother: Dick Davis of Williamsport; sister: Mertle Potts; grandchildren: Michael (Christina) Knowles, Nichole (Don) McClain; six great-grandchildren: Zachary Knowles, Gavin Roberts, Ella Roberts, Zoey Mclain, Noah McClain, and John McClain; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Henry, Sanford, and Floyd; and sisters: Mattie, Hattie, Edna, Ethel, Hulda; and step-daughter: Sheryl Hanvy.
