Joe Martin, age 62 of Columbia, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 28, 2014 at 11:00AM at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Columbia with Rev. Tommy Vann and Rev. Hubert Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Anglin Cemetery in Williamson County. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 4-8PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A native of Williamson County, Joe was born on October 12, 1951 and was the son of Hubert Martin and the late Jewel Greene Martin. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and worked as a plumber for Franklin Plumbing and Heating for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, at which he enjoyed volunteering and helping out when needed. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed fishing. In addition to his father, he is survived by his daughter: Crystal (James) Jackson of Santa Fe; adopted-son: Christopher Biggar of Canada; brothers: Larry (Lisa) Martin of Florida, Jim (Doris) Martin of Franklin, Ernie Martin of Columbia, Roy Gene (Faye) Martin of Franklin, and Richard (Donna) Martin of Dickson; sister: Nancy Martin of Franklin; grandchildren: Beonka Jackson and James Dean Jackson; and great-grandchild: Cainan Appollos Young. Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother: Thomas Martin and his first wife: Rosemary Davidson Martin. Joe's grandson, James Dean Jackson, brothers, and church members will serve as pallbearers.
