Mr. Ben Walter White, age 83, husband of Donna White, and a resident of Belmeade Place in Columbia, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Williamson Medical Center. A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 5:45 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Chuck Westra officiating. Military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:30-5:45 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born in Glade Springs, VA, on January 30, 1930, son of the late Sherman Oakley and Millie Gay Carr White. He worked as a truck driver for Minute Maid a division of Coca Cola. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. White loved playing golf and fishing, as well as watching his grandchildren participate in sports and other activities. In addition to his wife, Donna, of 62 years, he leaves behind to cherish his memory a son: Ben (Mary) White; daughters: Velda (Everett) Milam, Reba (Jerry) Tyson; seven grandchildren: Eric Milam, Kathie Walker, Jerry Tyson, Shannon Tyson, Tonya Tyson Windham, Aubry White, and Brent White; and 11 great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters: Barbara White and Linda White; brother: Sandy White; and sister: Edith Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be his golfing buddies at Stoneybrook Golf Course. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society: 2008 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203.
