Curtis Hendricks

Mr. Andrew Curtis Hendricks, age 80 of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 29, 2013 at 10:00 from the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born November 12, 1932 in Maury County, Curtis was the son of Joe Ike and Rosie Brown Hendricks. He served his country in the early 1950s in the United States Army. Shortly after his military service, he married the former Viola Sullivan. Their marriage spanned the years, ending just five days shy of what would have been their 60th Anniversary. Curtis worked as an inspector at Ford Glass Company and was a member of the Church of Christ. Except for two years during their marriage, when the family moved during planting season, Curtis and Viola had a garden. He loved being outdoors tending to it. At other times you would find him at the end of a fishing pole, or hunting. He enjoyed camping as well, but no matter what he always had to be busy. As the grandchildren came along, you could find him teaching them to fish or shoot, or even driving around the property on the tractor. He was a family man who cherished his time with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Viola, he is survived by a daughter: Cheryl Fidanian of Cross Plains, FL; 3 sons: Michael Hendricks of Dickson, TN, Troy Hendricks of Buford, GA, and Steven Hendricks of Chickasha, OK; a sister: Ernestine Davis; and two brothers: Marlon and Billy Joe Hendricks, all of Columbia.
