Loftin was born March 8, 1921 in Culleoka, TN to Carter T. Moore and Elizabeth Stacey Moore. Loftin was the president of the 1939 class of Culleoka High School. He volunteered for the US Navy one week after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and served until 1946. He was stationed in Iwo Jima during its invasion and was there until the end of World War II. He returned home on Valentine's Day 1946 and remained in the area for the entirety of his life. Shortly thereafter, he started working at Porter & Walker Inc. on the square in Columbia. He worked there until he retired in 1989.

Loftin was a man of great faith. He and his wife were some of the founding members of Grace Church of the Nazarene in Columbia. They were very active there for many years. He lived his life as a Christian example for others. He was a wonderful gentleman who was a fabulous husband, father, granddaddy, brother and friend.

Farming and gardening were always a joy to him. He and his family have lived on the same farm since the early 1950s . He often shared vegetables with neighbors and loved to provide help with the needs of others. During his last years, he found so much pleasure in the frequent visits of friends, neighbors and family.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Moore (Patrick) Schipani and Mary Jane (Harry) Montgomery. Four grandchildren whom he adored, Matthew Schipani, Vincent Schipani, Carson Montgomery and Meredith Montgomery. In addition, he has a surviving sister and brother, Pauline Holcomb and O'Neill Moore. He is also preceded in death by his daughter Harriett Moore and his brother, Noel Moore.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful community of friends and the loving group of caregivers who have helped in his care over the past years. Our parents were blessed to remain in their home and maintain the life they desired.
