Jim Savage

January 10, 1949 - June 15, 2013

Mr. James Edward Jim Savage, age 64 of Culleoka, passed away Saturday morning, June 15, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Nashville National Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army. The family will visit with friends on Monday, June 17, 2013 from 2-8 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Jim was born January 10, 1949 in Thomkinsville, KY and was the son of Robert Dillard and Dovie York Savage. He served his country in the US Army in Vietnam. Jim made his career in the field he learned in service as an auto mechanic. He was employed for several years with Team Chevrolet in Smyrna. Jim was happiest when he was outside. It didnt matter if he was on the beach in Florida, in the mountains, or on his boat. If he was experiencing nature, he was fulfilled. He loved to work in his garden or just lay out in the sun. He enjoyed shopping the flea markets and finding the hidden treasures that were available. When home, he loved to watch boxing and westerns, especially Clint Eastwood movies, or learning and reviewing history on the Discovery and History Channels. Jim was often described as a brilliant man, full of trivia and useless knowledge. He had a passion for just learning new things. He lived life on his own terms as a strong willed soul, but would melt in the presence of his grandchildren, whom he loved deeply. After his physical body would no longer allow him to work, he could still diagnose a mechanical problem by the description or sound of the issue. His love for others and talents will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife: Audrey Skinner Savage of Culleoka; 6 children: Scott Thomas Lamb of Culleoka, Jeremy Clayton Savage of Joelton, Jennifer Clair Davis of Murfreesboro, Ricky Wayne Lamb of Dyersburg, Jesica Colleen Ivy of Pleasantview and Monica Sheree Sutton of Smyrna; 9 siblings: David, Robert, Irene, Emma, Patsy, Ethel, Peggy, Barbara and JoAnn; 13 grandchildren: April Baker, Andrew Lamb, Briana Davis, Darrius Davis, Reagan Rankins, Cole Savage, Autumn Savage, Zack Lamb, Brandon Lamb, Ethan Ivy, Logan Ivy, Cheyenne Sutton and Wade Sutton; and a great-grandson: Hayden Lee Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Delbert Savage. You may share condolences with the family at the top of this page.
