Delores was born on July 26, 1950 in Nashville. From the age of 6 months, she was raised at the Spring Hill Orphans Home by Claribel Mama Welch. Throughout her life, she exhibited the qualities taught to her by Mama Welch. Delores will be remembered as a woman of faith. Every aspect of her life was focused on her church, Highland Church of Christ. She was kind and loving, and continually refused to retire from the City Hall Recorders office because of her appreciation and love for her fellow workers. Delores is remembered by her family and friends as a loving wife, a wonderful mother, a doting grandmother, and a faithful friend. She kept a list of birthdays and never failed to send a card on those special days. During their 42 years together, she simply spoiled Bobby. Truer words have not been spoken in description of Delores than Proverbs 10:31 - Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. In addition to her husband of 42 years: Bobby Matlock III, she is survived by a son: Robert Robbie (Mandi) Matlock IV of Naperville, IL; brother: Allen (Martha) Hite of Nashville; two grandchildren: Molly and Annie Matlock; and a father-in-law: Robert Matlock II. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law: Bonnie Ruth Matlock; sister: Patricia Diane Hite; her step-father: Buddy Bowles; and Mama Welch. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Highland Church of Christ Building Fund, 497 East James Campbell Blvd, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be sent to the family at the top of this page.
