Malcolm "Doodle" Kenneth Rhodes

March 18, 1959 - May 14, 2013

Mr. Malcolm Rhodes, age 54, a resident of Lawrenceburg, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. He will be laid to rest beside his parents at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 17, 2013 in the Paradise Cemetery at LBL in Lyon County, KY. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and is in charge of arrangements. Malcolm was born March 18, 1959 in Cadiz, KY. He was the son of the late Melvin E. and Peggy Owens Rhodes. Professionally, he was a logger and race car driver. As a driver he was the top of his rank. His talent allowed him to succeed when failure was certain. Malcolm could hit the wall and still win the race, his daughter recalls. He also had the honor of having his family at his races, and even having a daughter working on his pit crew. Malcolm will also be remembered as a man of his word. He owned up to his successes and failures, always telling the truth. Although he could be a hard or difficult man, Malcolm began to melt like chocolate on the stove when he was around his children and grandchildren. Malcolm was a survivor, too. He fought illness beyond expectations, but also lived through being hit by flying car parts and falling trees. His zeal for life will be missed. He is survived his companion: Gracie Henson of Lawrenceburg; three daughters: Stephanie Rhodes (Michael) Jones of Lawrenceburg, TN, Sheryl Rhodes (Randle Dugger) of LaCenter, KY, and Angela Rhodes of Princeton, KY; a son: Timothy Rhodes of Lyon Co, KY and 14 grandchildren: Austin Cox, Leann Weaver, Abigail Jones, Emily Jones, Sebastian Stults, Codi Glisson, Selena Rhodes, Kay Lee Doss, Jeffery Rhodes, Ethan Fricke, Jeremy Wilkins, Noah Wilkins, Maggie May Rhodes, and Darian Stevens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Melissa Cruse Rhodes; an infant son; two brothers: Keith and Michael Rhodes; a sister: Marilyn Kathy Rhodes; and two grandchildren: Brandon Michael Cox and Devan Michael Cox.
