James Thomas Proffitt

March 1, 1946 - April 26, 2013

Mr. James Thomas Proffitt, age 67, and a resident of Franklin passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 at Williamson Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 29, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia. The family will visit with friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Hartley Cemetery in the Bethesda Community of Williamson County. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Marine. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. James was born in Williamson County on March 1, 1946. Following high school, he joined the United States Marines and served his country during the Vietnam War era. He worked in construction for several years and finally spent his time in the landscaping business. In his free time, James loved NASCAR, especially Earnhardt and Earnhardt Jr. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and listening to classic Country Music and Elvis Presley. His greatest joy and pastime was his grandchildren. He surrounded himself with photos and was quick to point them out to visitors. He is survived by two sons: Roy (Paula) Proffitt of Bell Buckle and James Proffitt of Nashville; a half-brother: Charlie Reynolds of California; and three grandchildren: Tristen, Naomi, and Brooklyn Proffitt.
